Summary

Essential job responsibilities
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
•Assist in the monitoring of the global risk portfolio to ensure compliance with internal risk parameters
•Support Underwriters in client relationship and business development activities
•Evaluate, document, and lead implementation of rate and/or form changes
•No major unexpected risk/exposure
•Positive feedback from the business
Technical Performance
Conduct financial analysis of international corporate and bank risks
Participate in the identification of information sources, testing of risk analysis models, gathering of reference information, and other special risk-related projects
Analyze credit and political risk transactions through internal credit analysis model and generate an overall rating of the risk
Draft credit memoranda to document transactions in preparation for approval by the credit
committee
Perform research on company background, industry trends and operating environments and present outcomes to supervisor, credit committee, senior underwriters, and management
Translate from original language sources (mainly Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese)
Contact in-country government, bank and credit rating agencies, if necessary, to complete the assessment of transaction risks
Review and summarize country political and macroeconomic conditions
Assist in the preparation of reports and data for submission to reinsurers
Reports compiled in a timely manner
Accurate and relevant management information is provided
Reports compiled in a timely manner
Communication of all potential financial risks
QBE internal reporting standards met
Required education and experience
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business,Insurance, or related field, or equivalent experience in insurance or policy rating
Job related knowledge and skills
Understanding of class-specific underwriting
Good knowledge of relevant QBE underwriting systems
Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Developing negotiating skills
Ability to analyze and use data for decision making
