Cost and Budget Analyst
General:
Conducts financial analyses and investigations requiring independent thinking and planning to work. Analyzes historical and forecasted data and establishes budgets for all departments, working with departmental managers. Monitors spending and informs management of any spending problems.
Specific:
1. Analyzes historical and forecasted data and works with department managers to establish budgets.
2. Analyzes actual costs incurred in a specific accounting period and compares them to established budgets in order to inform management of spending problems. Communicates results of analyses to all levels of management.
3. Prepares monthly income statements, including analysis of same.
4. Analyzes changes in monthly potential profit, including product mix analysis.
5. Establishes budgets for both direct and indirect departments by working closely with area supervision and analyzing historical and forecasted data.
6. Reviews results of operations to isolate non-standard conditions, and reports results of same in order to initiate corrective action.
7. Recommends changes and improvements in systems and procedures to meet changing conditions or to obtain required data.
8. Exercises independent judgment in questioning and making day-to-day decisions concerning financial transactions.
9. Tracks and analyzes changes in cost card costs and reports on same.
10. Understands, tracks and analyzes inventory valuations.
11. Prepares a variety of monthly profit/loss reports, including analysis of same.
12. Responsible for the consolidation and analysis of North Carolina plant costs with the rest of the Division's operations.
13. Works actively with first line managers and forepersons in efforts to reduce the manufacturing cost of the products.
14. Performs miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent.
Experience:
1. Minimum of over 2 years related experience.
2. Must have solid analytical ability.
3. Must be able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
4. Must be able to work effectively with others and be a good communicator.
