Contract Accounts Payable Specialist- Top NYC University!
One of the country's top schools is seeking Accounts Payable Specialists for a long-term temporary position. This is an incredible opportunity to work for a university with a stellar reputation. Act fast, this is an ASAP start!
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
*Reporting to the Director, the Accounts Payable Specialist uses original source documents or optical images to audit payment documents, including invoices, check requests, petty cash, business and travel expenses, and travel advance requests to ensure compliance with University policies and government regulations.
*Performs on-line audits to ensure accuracy of payment (check matching) and quality of the imaged document; accepts, holds or rejects any payment document based on Accounts Payable standards. *Maintains on-line pending payment document file to ensure timely resolutions of issues in order to release for payment; corresponds with departments and vendors to resolve problems using electronic, written or oral methods; scans, indexes, retrieves and prints all Accounts Payable documents; may act as back-up to Production Control Clerks in Vendor Services; performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two years related Accounts Payable, accounting, or finance experience required. Must be dependable, customer focused, results oriented with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member; have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse customer base and be able to work under pressure and maintain composure; demonstrated use of tact and discretion in dealing with a wide range of internal and external constituents required. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills required. Must be detail oriented, possessing good analytical and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Seasonal overtime may be required. A test will be given as part of the interview process.
Each candidate is required to pass the AP Specialist Test, interview with the hiring manager and go through a background and credit check prior to starting.
