Job Description
Our U.S. Financial Services (FS) Practice consists of approximately 2,300 assurance professionals, including 223 partners and 650 managers. It spans industry sectors and functional skill areas, including insurance, investment management, capital markets, banking and real estate. We serve many of the world's largest financial institutions. This means that we have insight into the challenges facing the industry. PwC is the leader is serving large, complex financial services institutions. In the U.S., we audit:
- 18 of the top 50 life insurers, representing 39 percent of admitted assets. - 19 of the top 50 property and casualty insurers, representing 44 percent of net premiums written. - 11 of the top 25 reinsurers, representing 47 percent of net premiums written. - Over 2,900 mutual funds, representing 40% of all mutual funds and 58% of total industry net assets; this includes funds at nine and the advisor and funds at six of the top ten funds families. - Two of the top three, three of the top 15, and five of the top 20 US-based commercial banks. - Five of the top 20 mortgage servicers, and four of the top 20 mortgage originators. - Nine of the top 50 broker-dealers.

Our Consumer Finance clients demand a deep knowledge of their industry and business processes, the Consumer Finance practice is organized within our Financial Services practice to leverage fully our global team of professionals who serve virtually every segment of the financial services sector, including industry consumer/retail banking, commercial banking, wholesale banking, mortgage banking, securitization, capital markets, insurance, investment management, broker/dealer and real estate. As these sectors continue to converge and consolidate, our integrated knowledge will enable us to design and implement cost-effective, multidisciplinary solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities facing our clients.
PwC Consumer Finance professionals have focused skills in key areas to serve effectively our clients with their most critical challenges, including: - Asset / liability management - Mergers & Acquisitions - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance - Risk management - Securitizations - Regulatory requirements As a member of our Core Audit Team, you will: - Examine financial and accounting records, other documents, and produce analytics based upon reasonable and logical relationships - Ask a range of questions from formal written questions to informal oral questions of a range of individuals at the organization - Obtain written confirmations of a certain matters; for example, asking a debtor to confirm the amount of their debt with the organization - Test some of the organization's internal controls - Make judgments on significant estimates or assumptions that management made when they prepared the financial report
Our auditors maintain independence from Management and Directors so that the tests and judgments they make for clients are done objectively.
Position/Program Requirements
Knowledge Preferred:
Some knowledge of public accounting and audit practices, procedures and reporting standards, especially as it applies to Asset and Liability Management, Mergers & Acquisitions, Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance, Risk Management, Securitizations, and Regulatory Requirements. Some knowledge of SEC, U.S. GAAP, U.S. GAAS, and IFRS procedures and standards, and how these apply to the following industries: industry consumer/retail banking, commercial banking, wholesale banking, mortgage banking, securitization, capital markets, insurance, investment management, broker/dealer and real estate.
Demonstrated ability and/or direct experience with conducting and providing feedback on first-level reviews of standard audit procedures performed by new associates.
Skills Preferred:
Demonstrates some technical knowledge of US GAAP and how it applies to the financial services industry, including the following: - Proven ability to apply applicable auditing standings in completing audit areas; - Proven ability and/or direct experience with preparing a record of work that provides a clear understanding of audit procedures; - Proven ability and/or direct experience that utilizes professional scepticism on projects that involve technical knowledge of US GAAP and basic knowledge of the Consumer Finance industry
Demonstrates some consistent ability to interact and utilize effectively written and verbal business communication skills when interacting with clients and firm staff and/or management in a professional services business environment. This includes the proven ability to write reports describing Consumer Finance industry-related issues
