Position Description: The Loan Review Specialist is responsible for providing risk management consulting services to primarily commercial Financial Institutions ranging in size from $100 million to $5 billion in total assets. This position will be responsible for planning engagements, preparing request letters, conducting fieldwork, discussing findings and observations during exit meetings, preparing work papers to support conclusions and preparing written loan review reports. The position will also include routine client service assistance such as advice on internal control approaches, best practices and helping clients deal with both routine and complex issues. This position offers a diverse client base, the opportunity to work with multiple clients, strong support for continuing education and certification, a supportive, employee-centered culture, the opportunity to travel to multiple destinations in California, high visibility, and unlimited growth potential. The Financial Institutions Risk Management Consulting Practice has a proven track record of sound performance, high credibility in the markets it serves and strong opportunities for advancement and growth. For consideration, the ideal candidate should have a mix of the following: Required Experience: .Minimum of 7-10 years commercial loan review experience with a bank regulatory agency, financial institution, or through a bank consulting group .Loan review experience that includes the following types of lending activity: commercial real estate, construction, land development, accounts receivable, inventory and working capital .Firm understanding of commercial loan structure, underwriting, collateral evaluation, cash flow analysis and associated control and approval processes .Experience with industry accepted loan policy standards and credit administration practices .Solid ability to apply loan risk rating systems to categorize the quality of a particular loan using either regulatory risk rating definitions or those used by our clients .Bachelors degree in business or related field .Ability to commute to client locations primarily in California, Nevada and Arizona .Flexibility for 35% to 45% of overnight travel .Strong analytical skills and knowledge of credit .Strong project management and time management skills .Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred experience: .Ability to perform less complicated operational internal audit activities, such as note department reviews or credit process improvement reviews .Transaction support (M&A) experience .Ability to analyze and evaluate allowance for loan and lease losses (ALLL) account from both a regulatory and accounting perspective .Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley and consumer compliance regulations Interpersonal Skills/Characteristics: .Willing to participate in fast-paced, growth environment .Effectively communicate with all levels of management .Effectively relate to clients and become a trusted resource .Possess a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, as well as ability to adhere to both firm policy and best practices .Sets high standards for both personal and team productivity, while meeting client deadlines .Possess a strong internal drive and motivation for continuous improvement .A self-starter with the ability to work on large and small projects within a team environment RSM McGladrey values your creativity and innovative ideas which is demonstrated by how we reward high performers.
