Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; specialized bank commercial lending education and training; obtain and maintain appropriate Bank Product Knowledge Certification.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services; knowledge and understanding of complex financial analysis; ability to use spreadsheet software tools; technical skills sufficient to provide guidance and training to Commercial Loan Officer I(s); demonstrated supervisory skills; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related positions normally required.

General Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers; achieving customer service goals as established in the Commercial Lending Department's annual operating plan; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports; providing guidance and on-the-job training to Commercial Loan Officer I(s).

Essential Duties

1. Performs a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers as follows:

a. Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives, with assigned supervisor, on an annual basis; this activity to be integrated with the Commercial Lending Department's annual marketing/sales plan.

b. Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.

c. Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.

d. Prepares and maintains accurate records of all customer service calls made and meetings held with present and prospective customers.

e. Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of customer service and sales performance reports.

f. Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.

g. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.

h. Provides direct service to commercial customers of the Bank with respect to deposit, loan, and other miscellaneous products and services; approves or rejects loan applications within individual lending authority.

i. Manages an active portfolio of 100 to 200 small, medium to large loan relationships.

j. Interviews applicants, structures and negotiates loan terms, and analyzes new and renewed loans.

k. Assigns appropriate risk grades to loans and relationships.

l. Develops and recommends pricing strategies and parameters, using bank pricing model.

m. Supports the collection of past due loans as needed.
n. Directs financial statements to commercial Credit Analysts for spreading and analysis.

o. Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.

p. Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.

q. Monitors new developments in lending and compliance with loans policies and appropriate regulations; suggests changes in credit policy as necessary.

r. Develops and maintains relationships with other banks for loan participation.

s. Provides backup support for managing the internal audit, external audit and examination process with respect to lending.

t. Performs other related duties as assigned.

2. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.

3. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B), Flood Disaster Protection Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Reg C), etc.

4. Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:

a. Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate.

b. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel.

c. Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.

d. Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.

e. Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.

f. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by bank policy.

5. Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.

6. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

7. Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.

8. Provides guidance and on-the-job training to Commercial Loan Officer I(s).

Ancillary Duties

1. May attend sales and trade meetings as a bank representative to develop new business and to gain information and leads on new business relationships.

2. May represent the Bank in public relations and related community activities.

3. Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
