Purpose/Objective: Responsible for retaining a book of business, advising customers on proper coverage, rounding accounts and assisting customers in solving their insurance needs including writing new business and handling claims. This is an exempt, licensed, commercial insurance position for highly trained individuals representing BIG/Berkshire Bank in the commercial insurance arena. This position is responsible for handling commercial insurance accounts in excess of $7,500 in commercial premiums. In addition, this position requires close collaboration and alignment with commercial producers and commercial loan officers.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Team with producers to meet retention goals. Increase percentage of policies to customers. Refer customers to Berkshire Bank products and financial services products. Reviews monthly renewals with producers, orders renewals, markets when necessary. Works closely with the marketing team with regard to new business and re-marketing of renewals as needed. Meet retention goals for the office by location.40%
2. Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities. Follows all automation work flow procedures for every task completed. Maintains accurate electronic activity log to track all account activity and contact information. Completes applications in coordination with producer and clients; submits application to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtains client signatures on all applications and, when necessary, affidavits; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotes and policies. Bills all policies either direct or agency; prepares finance agreements when requested. Verifies accuracy of Direct Bill cancellations, determines reason for cancellation; acts to save account; notifies producer. Reviews walk-in payments and verifies acceptability; processes as appropriate, provides receipts to payers or directs receptionist to do so.40%
3. Aids clients with service needs and makes changes to existing accounts. Assists clients and producers with making coverage changes using each contact with the client and producer as an opportunity to review the whole account, round it and market it. Prepares summaries, statement of values, schedules and proposals as needed for account review. Informs and educates clients and producers about policy coverage, changes, exclusions and insurance needs. Responds to clients' needs by producing binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, registry needs and other related items; verifies their accuracy. Protects agency from errors and omissions exposures.30%
4. Attends association & company sponsored classes to stay abreast of products, pricing and coverage changes within the company & industry contracts. Assists with training as requested by supervisor. Performs additional duties as requested.10%
