Accountant- Budget Analyst Washington, DC Position Title: Accountant-Budget Analyst Supervisor: Assistant Director of Finance Department: Finance Duration: Full Time Location: Washington, DC OCEAN CONSERVANCY Founded in 1972, Ocean Conservancy is an environmental nonprofit advocacy organization that promotes healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and opposes practices that threaten ocean life and human life. Ocean Conservancy has emerged as a powerful voice to advocate for the protection of our ocean that is essential to all life and supplies much of the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and serves as the air conditioner for our planet. Through our programs, Ocean Conservancy provides leadership to champion the protection of special places, restoration of sustainable fisheries, the reduction of human impacts on ocean ecosystems, and the need for comprehensive management of our nations ocean resources and ecosystems. (For more information see: ). BASIC FUNCTIONS The Financial Analyst position is responsible for all aspects of internal and external project reporting and tracking. This position is the primary financial liaison with program staff, and will assist program and Development staff with their financial needs. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Review non administrative monthly internal financial statements Research & Respond to program staff inquires regarding internal financial statements Prepare all journal entries for reclassifications of revenue and expenses related to program financial statements Assist Development and Program staff in preparing grant proposal budgets Assist Development and Program staff with grant reporting Track progress on programs with restricted funds Assist in planning, preparation and review of annual organization budgets Assist Development and Program staff with budget re-projections Assist in any ad hoc reporting as assigned Prepare annual audit schedules to properly recognize revenue and release net assets from restriction Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Require 2 or more years of recent relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Accounting (a Bachelors in Finance or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting can substitute for the BS in Accounting). Knowledge of Federal compliance requirements, Great Plains and FRx experience a strong plus. Candidate must have a strong attention to detail, solid written and oral communication skills, and be deadline oriented.
