Responsibilities .Lead audits of the American Express Basel II implementation and parallel run to ensure appropriate integration of Basel II requirements. Audits are integrated and consider financial, operational, compliance and technology risks.
.Validate the Basel II implementation process, including management's validation procedures, responsibilities, results, timeliness, and responsiveness to findings. Review the gaps and projects identified in the implementation plan to confirm that they address all the detailed requirements or modify the projects' scope accordingly.
.Review the Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) end-to-end process, including exposure sourcing, Basel II classification, model application, data quality, reconciliation of exposures, close process, reporting schedule submission.
.Conduct reviews of Basel II "Advanced Systems" including audits of model validation independence relative to regulatory expectations for the model validation function. Particular focus on internal controls and governance around methodologies , data and processes including review of documentation demonstrating regulatory compliance with Basel II quantification expectations.
.Review the American Express ICAAP framework, including economic capital, capital forecasting, stress testing, capital policy and governance.
.Evaluate credit risk and operational risk management frameworks and models, including key inputs/outputs influencing risk quantification.
.Evaluate control designs; develop and execute audit tests
.Evaluate results, synthesize audit findings across the review, draft audit reports, and ensure effective and efficient audit execution
.Present audit objectives, scope, and results to senior members of management, clearly articulating the potential impact of control gaps in a highly professional competent manner
.Utilize automated work papers and other department and company tools in a proficient manner
.Follow-up with management to ensure management action plans are closed effectively and timely
.Effectively teach, coach, and develop team members in all aspects of the audit methodology
.Act as coach and mentor to less tenured staff and co-sourced resources
.Assume full performance management responsibility for assigned staff

Required Qualifications .Eight or more years experience in the banking industry within a public accounting, finance and/or internal audit function.
.BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent degree or advanced degree in Accounting, or related field is preferred
.Experience implementing Basel II in the US, and familiarity with the Basel II securitization framework
.Extensive knowledge of key financial services functions including internal capital adequacy assessments, stress testing, asset & liability management, contingent liquidity testing, and market risk management
.Technical expertise in credit and operational risk and related modeling.
.Professional certification (CIA, CFSA, CPA, or equivalent)
.Knowledge and experience in application of control theory and professional auditing practices
.Proven ability to lead projects and initiatives that drive performance
.Demonstrated ability to manage people in a way that inspires, develops, and delivers results
.Demonstrated track record of integrity, effective communication, innovation, and excellence
.Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver high quality, actionable feedback to client management on control issues and potential solutions to close gaps
.Ability to travel
