Assistant Director of Compliance (Sports Marketing/Events/Promotions)
The University is the preeminent public university in the country. We're also one of the leading employers in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Compliance.
Description of the Position:
The Assistant Director of Compliance will oversee the department's recruiting, student-athlete official visits, NCAA eligibility center academic evaluations, the national letter of intent program, travel manifests, and professionalism issues from a NCAA compliance perspective.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting:
Monitor the recruiting activity of prospective student-athletes by coaches Approve all official visits Evaluate transcripts of all prospects
Financial Aid:
Monitor financial aid issues as related to student-athletes Coordinate the process of reviewing and revising all athletically-related awards Coordinate the amount of aid for continuing student-athletes with head coaches
Awards and Benefits:
Oversight and approval of the awards program for student-athletes Approve all requests for donations
Playing and Practice Seasons:
Work with coaches on their playing and practice season reports Approve coaching limitations, schedules, countable hours and summer league competition Approve all team travel
Camps and Clinics:
Monitor all institutional camps/clinics for compliance with NCAA and institutional rules and regulations Approve all brochures and advertisements for publication Collect athletics director approval for student-athlete employment
NCAA and Pac-12 Interpretations:
Provide interpretations on NCAA and Pac-12 rules to coaches and staff Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NCAA bylaws and their interpretations Keep current on NCAA, Pac-12, and University policies regarding athletic rules, including researching interpretations and precedents Maintain the interpretations database Participate in annual team compliance meetings
Violations:
Conduct preliminary investigations and report findings on all potential violations Write violation reports to the Pac-12 Conference
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices Highly developed problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task and to work with frequent interruptions Effective listening skills Highly effective verbal and written communication skills Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications. Effective customer service skills Three years experience in Division I Athletics Compliance or equivalent Advanced working knowledge of NCAA Division I and Pac-12 policies, rules and regulations
Preferred:
Advanced degree in a related field. Proficiency with Compliance Assistant and FileMaker Pro computer software programs
