We are looking for a Deal Analyst to be part of a team that researches, analyzes, and structures deals to perform at the highest level possible. In this role, you will apply a healthy balance of qualitative and quantitative analysis, analyze historical data and industry trends, and/or collect first-hand insights from local merchants who are experts in their field. Synthesizing these inputs, you will recommend optimal deal structures to ensure the best merchant and customer experience.
The successful candidate has a healthy obsession with the rapidly evolving daily deal industry, is naturally curious, and enjoys tackling exciting challenges. He/she rolls up his/her sleeves, innovates, and quickly becomes a subject matter expert on the key attributes and inputs that ensure deal performance. He/she has significant experience analyzing data, identifying trends, extracting conclusions, and presenting findings in a simple and clear manner. Successful candidates also enjoy problem solving and are proficient using Excel and other tools to analyze large data sets.
Responsibilities
Identifying and cataloging optimal deal structures across a variety of categories and sub categories
Analyzing large amounts of deal and merchant data to identify unique characteristics, extract attributes that determine a good deal, and reviewing these attributes with senior leadership on a regular basis.
Deep diving into under-performing deals to determine drivers and share findings with the larger group. Incorporating findings into processes to further refine existing and/or future deal structures
Solving deal quality issues that affect our sales and operations teams
Helping the team establish best practices and standard processes for identifying and crystallizing optimal deal structures
Working cross functionally with the product team to recommend ways of automating existing manual processes
Working with the BI team to extract and analyze data as needed
Engaging with local merchants to gather insight and feedback into deal performance drivers
Bachelor's Degree
4+ years of experience in business analysis and research
Thorough knowledge of and experience using Excel and/or Access data bases
Masters Degree
Knowledge of SQL
Strong spoken and written communication skills
Unwavering attention to detail and an acute awareness that everything counts
Strong research and analytical skills
A natural curiosity and desire to learn
A keen eye for detail and organization
An ability to think quantitatively and qualitatively about different market segments and trends
