AIS Fund Account Manager
Title: AIS Fund Account Manager
Location: Delaware-Wilmington
Responsible for leading the daily production of a staff comprised of Fund Accountants whose responsibilities include providing premier client service and contributing to the production of client portfolio valuations, statements, and Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, as well as performing more complex fund accounting functions.
Understand the overall direction of the AIS business and the relationship of these goals to the overall strategy of The Bank of New York Mellon. Knowledge of the core services of AIS and how they meet the client's needs, including: portfolio accounting, investor accounting, custody, and transfer agency, along with the ancillary products and services provided to the AIS client base, including: pricing, corporate actions and cash management. Understand the security types making up the portfolios and how they trade, i.e., equities, fixed income securities, mortgage-backed securities, derivatives, along with the transaction flows throughout AIS and the impact of mistakes at each step on the other. Be aware of the transaction history for each client, patterns of investing, specific requirements, and service standards affecting them. Understand the forms, documentation and other legal requirements to set up accounts in AIS. Understand the risks inherent in specific transactions. Understand the information flows through the various AIS systems. Maintain knowledge of the various AIS systems specific to the job function.
Client Management:
Ensure all clients are given excellent service. Daily client contact - ensure all inquiries and requests are handled timely and accurately, meeting or exceeding client expectations.
Staff Management:
Assist in the management of staff accountants and review their work product. Ensure all activities are performed efficiently, effectively, accurately and in a timely fashion. Train new staff on procedures and job related activity. Provide assistance to staff as and when required. Create a positive environment.
Production Management:
Produce NAV calculations for clients assigned to the team. Ensure NAVs are completed on time and accurately. Ensure that the Pre-NAV activities such as cash postings, investment postings subscription and redemption postings, balancing of inter-company balances and other general ledger postings are done prior to month-end and be reconciled in preparation for the striking of the NAV. Ensure that month-end NAV books are fully completed and will pass all internal and external audit reviews, along with the annual SAS 70 reassessment review.
Other Responsibilities:
Ensure wire transfers are processed within the deadline set and that all payments are approved by the investment manager. Prepare monthly financial statements. Assist with financial statements package on a monthly basis in addition to the NAV package. Assist with year-end financials. Assist with internal and external audit requests. Assist in the preparation of year-end audit review package. Participate on departmental projects as needed. Get involved with the planning, preparation, testing and implementation of new clients. Review all daily work produced by junior accounting staff.
Minimum Requirements:
The candidate should have 6-8 years of experience at a minimum, some of which should be industry related, accounting for Hedge Funds, Private Equity Funds or Fund of Funds. A college degree is preferred, and a CPA/CA is desirable, but not required.
