Basic Function: The candidate will be responsible for executing SOX testwork, developing accounting policies and procedures, coordinating the completion of significant accounting estimates, research and implementation of new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), testing new application systems and products with interfaces to the general ledger Responsibilities: Provide accounting and operational support throughout M&T Bank Corporation, ensuring appropriate levels of internal control. Assist or take lead role in developing and documenting accounting policies and procedures as they relate to new and existing accounting pronouncements and new corporate initiatives. Provide significant accounting and operational support throughout the organization on acquisition-related initiatives. Perform detailed financial analyses utilizing complex modeling scenarios. Work in collaboration with business groups to provide financial analysis in accordance with GAAP. Assist Operations areas in designing / testing interfaces between subsystems and general ledger. Participate on conversions relating to the design and testing of interfaces. Provide assistance in monitoring internal control procedures and practices prevalent within the organization, and in particular as they relate to Sarbanes-Oxley objectives. Provide training and work guidance to junior analysts on assignments. Perform related projects and highly specialized assignments in support of department initiatives. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Four to six years experience in auditing and accounting (public accounting and/or bank internal audit experience preferred) Self-starter and motivated. Strong organization skills with emphasis placed on detail and the ability to work effectively under time constraints. Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills, including knowledge and application of GAAP. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideal Qualifications: CPA licence a plus
