Our client is a stable, privately held, middle-market manufacturing company in the San Fernando Valley/Burbank area looking to hire a strong Accounting Supervisor/Assistant Controller to join their accounting organization. Reporting to the Controller, this person will need to work well independently to perform complex accounting and financial analysis tasks relating to the preparation of consolidated financial statements, preparing the year-end financial statements, 401(k) audit, and management audits to assess controls. In addition, any prior demonstrated experience in supporting the reduction of the month-end close process and procedures is preferred.
Responsibilities include: ** Responsible for managing the general ledger accounting function. Oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements. Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization. ** Overall management of the General Ledger department with a total of three staff members/direct reports ** Ensure that the department is providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers ** Evaluate GAAP requirements and identify potential issues involving financial transactions, journal entries, account analysis and other schedules ** Responsible for corporate and brand GLs and reporting numbers to Financial Reporting ** General Ledger month-end close, preparation of journal entries and analytical review of interim financial statements and appropriate accounting research. ** Manages day to day operations of the Accounts Payable functions, including implementing, goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to AP ** Responsible for audits in operational and financial data for departments to verify accuracy and compliance with plans, policies, and procedures. ** Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures.
Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics CPA tracking or Certified Public Accountant with public accounting firm At least seven years of experience in accounting or financial reporting related role ERP and corporate accounting experience preferred Solid foundation in and ability to apply complex accounting principles Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
