The Fund Billing Group is responsible for calculating FMR Corp's management fee and transfer agent fee billings to all of the Fidelity Investments '40 Act funds (450 funds / 1,500 funds/classes with total assets of $1,200 billion, generating $600 million of revenue each month). An extremely high degree of accuracy and precision is required in the billing process.
Under the direction of the Fund Billing Manager, this position is primarily responsible for performing business & system operations and analytics related to the calculation, billing and reporting of management and transfer agent fees. This person works closely with the Fund Billing Manager in change management processes that involve representatives from across the organization. Individual is a primary contact for ad-hoc requests and questions from business partners and auditors. Individual actively participates in systems project & process improvement initiatives related to management and transfer agent fee billing.
Position Responsibilities * Work closely with the FMR Fund's Treasurer's Office, FMR Co. Board Support, Transfer Agents, Finance & Accounting Information Technology (F&A IT), FPCMS, FSM and other business units to collect and consolidate information on new funds and fund products that will be charged management and transfer agent fees. * Read and interpret mutual fund contracts and Board of Trustee memos and other source documents. * Determine which actions and/or decisions impact the billing process and extract that data for further research and inclusion in the current monthly cycle. * Responsible for resolving discrepancies over conflicting data or information in the above source documents. * Prepare monthly "Change Management Memorandum" that contains all information needed for current billing cycle * Memorandum is disseminated to a cross-Fidelity change management committee for review, discussion and approval; committee meets on a monthly basis. * Ensure all billing applications are updated by junior analyst accordingly with agreed upon changes. * Perform business & system operations and analytics related to the calculation, billing and reporting of management fees and transfer agent fees & interest credits. * Calculate fund performance fees for all Fidelity Investments '40 Act funds. * Utilize various industry indices as benchmarks to determine whether the performance fee amounts appear reasonable and appropriate in light of market conditions. * Oversee access to all Fund billing applications: FEBAT MGT, FEBAT TA and TICA. * Participate in business and systems change management within Fund Billing and across our business partners, including the (i) Transfer Agent Change Management Committee and the (ii) Management Fee and Transfer Agent Fee Monthly Change Meeting. * Actively participate in annual management and transfer agent fee contract renewal processes with FMR and SAI's Boards of Trustees. * Act as a primary contact for ad-hoc requests from business partners and Corporate Accounting management; provide analytical support and variance explanations to the FMR Fund's Treasurer's Office, FMR Co. Board Support, Transfer Agents and other business units. * Educate auditors on contractual management & transfer agent fee methodologies and calculations; field inquiries and provide explanations. * Work closely with Fund Billing systems business analyst / project manager to ensure that FEBAT system can support billing requirements of new fund products. * Assist in the definition of business requirements and assessment of user acceptance test plans. * Assist in the execution of test plans and evaluation of whether the system meets the business requirements. * Recommend changes to existing business and systems policies & procedures surrounding the fee calculation and billing function; participate in special project teams to implement changes * Keep current in Fidelity business knowledge, related systems and mutual fund industry.
Education and Experience * A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting plus a minimum of 1-2 years of mutual fund operations, accounting and/or finance experience is required. Skills and Knowledge * Detailed-oriented with solid understanding of business and financial concepts and accounting principles is required. * Strong sense of ownership and accountability. * Solid analytical, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as in teams. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills *
