JPMorgan Chase in Chicago, Illinois, is seeking a high energy, self starting Senior Accounting Associate within Corporate Real Estate Accounting. Corporate real estate is responsible for a worldwide occupancy portfolio of 78 million square feet across 65 countries in over 6,500 properties.
As a Senior Accounting Associate, the individual in this role is integrally involved in the accounting activities supporting the Corporate Real Estate group as follows: * Responsible for the month-end close process, including developing accrual estimates and the posting of journal entries to the general ledger * Prepare accurate financial reporting for management on a timely basis for the balance sheet and the income statement * Investigate variances in account balances and provide explanations * Monthly reconciliation and certification of monthly balance sheet accounts * Assess and update/create accounting procedures and workflow to ensure adequate documentation of the month-end close process * Assist in preparation and improvement of monthly accounting package * Establish and maintain relationships with finance and operations groups in Corporate Real Estate as well as Line of Business contacts * Assist Finance team in creating annual budgets and updating mid-year forecasts * Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities within predetermined timeliness is essential. * Bachelor's degree in accounting required. * Minimum 4-7 years of accounting experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment. * Big Four public accounting experience, large corporate, and/or CPA strongly preferred * Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables * Creative self starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team * Structured mindset with process/continuous improvement orientation * Ability to multi-task and be hands on in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Technology Requirements: * Experience with automated financial systems (SAP), database management, worksheet-modeling tools (Excel, Access), and Essbase experience preferred.
