JOB DESCRIPTION: Maintain financial records for the General Fund general ledger; safeguard and utilize HMFA assets; review and process Accounts Payable requests and maintain files, including purging and packing escrow files for offsite storage; prepare wire transfers and check fundings including Merrill Lynch online system; coordinate with HMFA staff, banks, vendors, building managers and the general public; prepare and review monthly Accounts Payable reconciliations and reports; process and post daily cash receipts/disbursements; prepare monthly letter to the respective trustees to update the month end balances of the cash management investments by the fifteenth of each month; review and process escrow accounts payable on Mitas system, including setting up and maintaining vendors; accurately input invoices to be paid with correct General Ledger accounts; print checks and obtain signatures; assist supervisor and/or manager with special projects and requests for information.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Two (2) year degree in Accounting or Finance and five (5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
SKILLS: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Experience in bookkeeping, finance or accounting, specifically Accounts Payable process required. Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting functions and procedures; ability to prepare financial statements and analyze financial/statistical information and draw appropriate conclusions; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
