Description

Every person needs the support of others and we are looking for a motivated individual to partner with Operations on their financial needs. As a Staff Accountant with REM Minnesota, you will be an important part of ensuring the success of the company as it as provides critical supports to those in need each day.

REM Minnesota is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to provide general accounting and financial analysis for the regional offices to support operations in making their financial decisions. This individual should be self-motivated, a good communicator, have strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task to meet multiple deadlines. Some general duties of this position may include preparing financial reports, creating journal entries to appropriately record transactions, reconciling accounts, and much more!

Essential Job Functions:

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and the documentation of business transactions. Prepare month-end general ledger journal entries and perform reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Perform analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts. Analyze all balance sheet accounts and selected income statement accounts to aid in the review of accounting activity for the period.
• Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all relevant information.
• Ensure appropriate lease documentation is in place and all payments are made in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the development and entry of annual and reforecast budgets.
• Actively manage capital asset transactions through the processing of capital expenditure request forms, asset disposal/transfer forms, and assigning tags.
• Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement. Review and proof weekly accounts payable vouchering.
• Maintain depository account records for multiple companies including the monthly reconciliation of these accounts.
• Assist with establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
• Prepare selected workpapers for various audits.
• Provide general accounting support to business organizations.
• Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance with all assigned areas and other audit requirements.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or related field or commensurate experience
• One to two years experience in accounting or related field
• Valid driver's license and driving record that meets insurability requirements as defined by the company, if applicable
• Knowledge of Oracle, Avatar, and Hyperion preferred
• Excellent computer skills, data entry speed and accuracy, and related office equipment
• 
  Excellent written and oral communication skills
• 
  Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
• 
  Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• 
  Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• 
  Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines
