Job Description
Summary :
This position is responsible for basic accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and financial reports. This entry level accountant will process accounts receivable, and monthly journal entries. Some participation in annual budget process, monthly variance analysis, account reconciliation, and special projects. Ensures proper accounting treatment and internal controls are in place for business processes. This position reports to the Manager I, Finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned) :
• Responsible for all accounts receivable for the contract service business in Bloomington, IN. Including all invoicing for our customers with close attention to revenue recognition to ensure proper billing point.
• Processing of all cash receipts for the business as well as the main accounting contact to our project associate team.
• Generation of customer statements as well as monthly finance charges.
• Perform month end close process/journal entry preparation.
• Responsible for reconciliation of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts and reviewing trends of each account.
• Perform special projects in association with accounts receivable, sales and some overhead spend analysis.
• Support fixed asset cycle counting and reporting.
• Provide departmental training
• Assists in the organization and consolidation of department policies and procedure manual.
• Participates in lean activities and initiatives.
Job Requirements
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Qualifications ):
• B.S. degree required, Finance or Accounting highly preferred
• One year work experience in a business/financial environment highly desired.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: JDE, BPLM, Pilgrim, Trackwise, etc.)
Physical / Safety Requirements:
• Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
• Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
• Position requires sitting for long hours, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
