ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Very visible position, works with executive management, portfolio leaders and project teams on a daily basis. Ability to drive change and achieve strong operating results. Key member of Business Insurance Business Intelligence (BI BI) extended leadership team that drives strategic direction and quality delivery of the invest portfolio as well as improving efficiency and effectiveness of the -run the business- operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports directly to the 2nd Vice President BI BI Strategy and Execution Office. Supports in the execution of a $40M Business Intelligence project portfolio including strategic planning, financial management, governance, portfolio management best practices, operational/usage performance metrics, demand management process for enhancements and Production Support model. Responsibilities have a cross-organizational impact.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
This role is at the Senior Project Director or 2nd Vice President level depending on the candidate. Position will partner closely with the portfolio leads and serve as an overlay manager for the Business Intelligence Strategy and Execution Office. Responsible for financial management of the Business and IT budget, workforce strategy, implementation of governance and portfolio management best practices, development and coordination of operational and usage metrics, demand management framework and efficiency and effectiveness of the Production Support model. Assists in monitoring of execution of business commitments and ongoing management of all projects/programs into a single investment strategy. Provides leadership over the development of BI BI CBA-s in support Business Intelligence strategy and ongoing monitoring of return on investment of BI BI strategic priorities.

OTHER:
Technical Knowledge
Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of organizational concepts and motivational methods. Has broad experience in large scale portfolio execution and management including leadership over a Portfolio Management Office and organizational change management. Understands the corporate and departmental business objectives, and can relate them on a strategic, tactical and operational level to support execution excellence.

Provides direction and effectively leads by example to ensure that all services are meeting the stated business objectives on a timely basis with excellent quality. Keeps all areas informed of developments affecting their function. Demonstrates flexibility, anticipates customer needs, and effectively communicates in a manner consistent with the audience. Educates and influences business partners on the program and project execution, from both a short-term and long-term perspective. Accountable for the establishment of the user adoption program and supporting measures/metrics to ensure optimal business value is realized with the delivery of BI BI capabilities.

Anticipates changing business demands and adapts plans to reflect organizational capability and capacity. Sees the big picture, and is fully aware of technology and business directions. Has department, corporate and group objectives in focus while identifying and removing barriers.

Leadership
Manages multiple cross-functional objectives and/or priorities in support of BI BI. Understands the departmental, corporate and group objectives and strives to meet or exceed them. Personally accountable and decisive leader. Responsible for department workforce strategy including capacity planning and talent management framework.

Planning, Governance, Financial Management and Production Support Model
Insures all planning for strategic investments and -run the business- operations (enhancements and production support) are done effectively at the portfolio level and is supportive of the business strategic plan and multi-year roadmap. Establishes portfolio management, governance, financial management, demand management and production support best practices/framework for the organization.

Financial Acumen
Financial management for an organizational unit of 100 business employees with an annual operating budget of $40M (Business and IT combined). Accountable for annual budgeting and ongoing expense management of department. Demonstrates sound judgment in the assessment of cost and value. Ability to create framework to manage BI BI Portfolio cost and benefits over multi-year horizon.

Skills/Experience
- Previous experience in leading Business or IT Portfolio Management Office including experience in portfolio management and delivery of large scale multi-year programs
- Background and experience in successful consulting (either internal or external management consulting)
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a diverse group of people at all levels in both IT and business; is respected and trusted
- Strong results focus orientation, personally accountable
- Proven track record in achieving results and consensus in a matrix-managed environment
- Strong ability to garner stakeholder support and sponsorship
- Build team motivation and momentum and ensure cross team/portfolio level communication
- Large scale portfolio level planning and resource management experience
- Strong financial management skills; experience building and delivering business cases, and managing large scale programs to delivery against budget/business cases
- Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation, and team building skills

Education:
- BS/BA in Business, MIS or other related field; MBA/MS a plus
