Title: Middle Market Sales Underwriter Location: United States-Michigan-Grand Rapids Other Locations: WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES? The primary focus will be on New Business underwriting activities in order to achieve the operating plan objectives for this territory, including: * Risk Selection/Technical Underwriting: Takes lead role in risk selection, pricing, and account management. Has extensive knowledge of Hartford Programs, forms and services within The Enterprise, with emphasis on Middle Market. Is creative in use of underwriting tools and techniques to write profitable business. Uses pricing models for appropriate risk selection/pricing and is able to communicate rationale for underwriting decisions. Exhibits a commitment to finding ways to write business without sacrifice of quality, including appropriate leverage of all lines and account underwriting. * Sales and Agency Territory Management: Is effective at leveraging The Hartford''s agency compensation, incentive, and recognition programs as they relate to production and profit objectives of Middle Market. Is effective in developing, implementing, and monitoring sales plans with targeted agencies by demonstrating effective agency management skills. Assist in development and implementation of effective sales plans for those agents handled by the Team. Collaboration with Regional Offices in leveraging relationships with key agents to maximize growth and profit. * Relationship/Team Skills: Demonstrates excellent working relationships with all business associates leading to high level of customer satisfaction. This includes agents, internal/external customers, and sales and service center staff. Uses relationship abilities to uncover new business opportunities, retain renewal business and develop long term strategic business relationships. *
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: * At least 2 years experience in Commercial Lines sales and underwriting, preferably handling larger middle sized accounts. * Proven success in achieving profit and production goals. * Strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills. * Efficient automation skills. * Bachelors Degree, or equivalent in experience. * CPCU, IIA or CIC coursework preferred. * Requires valid driver's license and good driving record required WHY JOIN THE HARTFORD?
