The Department

The Position
As a member of the Institutional Solutions Team (IS Team), the Senior Quantitative Analyst will assist with the Team's portfolio structuring, risk modeling and monitoring, trading, client deliverables, and ad hoc research projects. Additionally, this individual will play a crucial build-for-scale" role for the IS Team by identifying ways to automate and batch key analyses, methods, and techniques employed by the IS Team.
Responsibilities
· Risk Management and Monitoring: Oversee the team's risk models and interface with the Pyramis Risk Team to insure coordination and collaboration of risk-related efforts
o Use RAPIDS to perform all pension-risk analyses for IST clients and prospects
o Work to automate RAPIDS use to support analytical and client-support innovations
o Be the team's go-to person on asset-based risk models
o Develop a system of alerts so that customized elements of each relationship are monitored and maintained according to IMA agreements and standards
Find ways to improve and automate risk computations across client base
· Portfolio Trading & Analytics: Assist the IS portfolio management team with trading, execution and cash-flow management of all portfolios managed
o Monitor portfolio performance, positioning, risk metrics, etc. to ensure alignment with PM investment thesis and process, and recognize, evaluate, and reconcile any results that are inconsistent with manager or strategy objectives
o Work with TAAC, fund accounting and various portfolio service groups to ensure proper oversight of all transactions initiated by the team
o Work with PMs to develop trading/execution strategies to implement PM views and investment strategies (e.g., fund transitions, alignment of active positioning across funds, etc.)
o Find ways to improve rebalancing, trade execution, and position-monitoring of IST accounts, individually and collectively
o Ensure timely and proper communication with underlying portfolio managers, trading desks, portfolio service groups and fund accounting on all trades
o Cash flow analysis; provide insight on liquidity constraints, manager timing preferences and impact on reallocation feasibility and scheduling
o Oversee IS Team's involvement with on-boarding of new clients, including collaboration with CEG, TAAC, performance, client service, treasury, trading desk, and others, as needed
o Ensure that the trading platform, tools, and execution algorithms are consistent with industry and Fidelity best practices
o Work closely with the investment staff, investment operations and the technology group on infrastructure enhancements and other projects to support the portfolio management process
· Investment Research: Assist the IS Team in the investment research process, providing support in data gathering, modeling and fundamental analysis of key economic/macro indicators
o Utilize quantitative techniques to develop perspectives that will impact the fund selection and asset allocation
o Develop new and enhance existing proprietary multi-factor alpha and beta models to improve the manager/fund selection process
o Create analytic approaches to support investment insights and recommendations
o Maintain library of key investment charts and slides used for internal and client presentations
o Provide ongoing analytical support in creation of client reports
o Assist with programming and automation of research ideas
o Work with other groups within Pyramis and Global Asset Allocation to gather relevant data, information, insights, and slides
· Thought Leadership: Participate in the IS Team's thought leadership efforts
o Work with IS Team staff to generate ideas for research efforts, as well as work with external resources to help tailor ideas for direct use by the IS Team
· IT Support: Lead the IS Team's efforts with Pyramis IT and GAA IT
o Influence IT budget process by scoping annual needs
o Ensure all IT work effort is executed effectively
o Ensure IS Team automation steps are in line with Pyramis and GAA IT standards
* Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree (Masters/Ph.D.) strongly preferred in one of the following areas: applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or finance; operations research, econometrics, physics, engineering also of interest
* CFA preferred
* Financial modeling and computer programming/application development as it applies to risk analysis, performance attribution, portfolio construction, optimization in asset allocation environment
* 5 years related experience in quantitative research

Skills/Knowledge
* Knowledge of the investment industry, particularly multi-asset class arrangements, and market data
* Data manipulation and understanding of large data sets
* Demonstrated expertise developing applications in R, C , Java, Excel, FactSet, Visual Basic
* Demonstrated experience in building risk management and performance attribution systems
* Excellent communication and organizational skills requiredSelf starter with ability to see projects through to completionHigh level of attention to detail
