Title: Mortgage Loan Specialist - Oakland, CA / East Bay (Richmond, Berkeley, Hayward, Albany, Pinole) Location: US-CA-Oakland Other Locations: US-CA-Albany, US-CA-Mountain View, US-CA-Berkeley, US-CA-Hayward, US-CA-Pinole The Mortgage Loan Specialist (MLS) aligned to a Banking Center manages mortgage referrals originating from Banking Centers. The MLS provides local coverage for the Banking Center and will focus on building relationships with and coaching BC associates on mortgage products, how to identify mortgage opportunities and best practice referral strategies. Focus on identifying opportunities to deepen customer relationships by referring back to consumer partners and specialists with the center. In addition to the BC referrals, sales revenue is also developed through repeat business and limited self-sourcing from relationships with local realtors and/or builders. They work with new and existing customers through the mortgage application process, including analyze of financial data, credit, determine pricing, product selection, document collection and kept informed routines. In this ongoing sales role, the MLS continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. An MLS's network is enhanced by their regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations. The MLS will successfully coach Banking Center associates on best practice referral strategies both through on the job mentoring and during team huddles, complete pre-assigned training activities and achieve personal production goals. The MLS responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other Bank of America business channels. The MLS conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. The MLS ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements. This position may be subject to SAFE Act Registration Requirements. Pursuant to the SAFE Act requirements, all applicants for employment who will be engaged in residential loan mortgage originations (as defined by the SAFE Act) must register with the federal registry system and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements. If at any time the Bank determines that your position requires SAFE Act registration, you will be required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process. Failure to register successfully or to maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act will affect your eligibility for continued employment and may result in your immediate termination. Required Skills * Mortgage sales experience desired (2 years) * Demonstrated understanding of the mortgage loan process * Understands complex federal mortgage regulations * Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and recommend appropriate financial solutions * Provides exceptional customer service at all stages of the process * Professional and effective interpersonal skills * Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously * Demonstrated ability to navigate successfully in a highly complex and matrix environment * Banking center experience as a manager or senior seller, helpful * Proven success in meeting/exceeding sales production goals * Other financial services sales experience helpful * Experience with self-sourcing desired * Demonstrated ability to effectively coach others * Ability to work as part of a team, lead and influence teammates on mortgage business priorities * Professional and effective interpersonal skills * Strong computer skills including a fundamental understanding of standard office applications * Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across a variety of audiences * Bilingual skills, as required
