IT Development Team Leader

This role is responsible for leading an Application Software Development Team whose responsibilities may include pure development of new software, or maintenance and support activities relating to software already in production. Includes the assigning and co-ordination of programming responsibilities, cross-training efforts, and administrative responsibilities. Additionally, accountability is accepted for the quality and timeliness of team deliverables, and guidance and direction is provided to the team on an on-going basis. Significant emphasis is placed on project communication and co-ordination with multiple departments and business partners within Exel to ensure seamless co-ordination of development tasks with their corresponding elements in QA, Integration, Implementation, Operations, Help Desk, etc. This role possesses full technical knowledge of all phases of systems development life cycle and also considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Acts as a point of reference for the Exel Supply Chain business as it relates to Business Systems Development. Project Planning / Administration / DeliveryEffective ability to plan and manage the application development effort for Exel Supply Chain business. Prepares and delivers status reports to senior management in regards to team related activities. Insures that the development effort follows the approved plan and adheres to all appropriate s process requires close co-ordination with other IT teams including Business Unit IT Project Management team, Quality Assurance team, Application Integration team, and the Application Support team. Pursuit - (Cost Model Generation ) Generate accurate cost models for Service Requests and Projects. Production SupportEffective ability to manage the post-implementation support for several sites on several different supply chain management application systems. Effective ability to guide and direct team in making support decisions in a timely ective ability to provide support to other IT teams in regards to system and application problems. Planning and coordination of 24X7 support coverage for supply chain application systems and other related software. Development Standards Participates in the creation and maintenance of all internal team standards and ensures that team members adhere to these processes during all implementation and support activities People ManagementReview work completed by team and provide routine performance feedbackConduct formal performance appraisals (at least twice annually)Assist team members in drafting and executing personal development plansTrain members of the application development team GeneralRequires little supervision from a more senior manager; accepts considerable responsibility for project success; effective ability to assist others in the completion of assignments through knowledge sharing, effective ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously; effective knowledge of Exel-Ts business applications and business processes including both third party and in-house developed applications.
